Joe Shouldice — New York, USA

"I don’t think I could possibly pick a single finish as my favourite. I love using a simple silver Pantone 877 with black or gold foil stamped onto brown kraft paper... or thick uncoated card stock with a blind deboss. Most exciting, however, is when the most simple of techniques are used in unexpected and new ways to elevate the final design. I’ve seen economical 1c jobs on newsprint that are more impactful than jobs that employ multiple expensive finishes."

Joe Shouldice is a Canadian designer living and working in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, he immediately began working at Sagmeister Inc. in New York City. After honing his skills there, he opened his own tiny design studio – YesYesYes Design. He is also the art director for New York City start-up LittleBits. His work has won most major international design awards, including recognition from the Type Directors Club, Tokyo Type Directors Club, the ADC, AIGA, Graphis, Applied Arts and Coupe Magazine.
