“Sarah’s images are treated subversively like the DIY persuasion inherent in punk.”

About

Sydney born illustrator Sarah Howell has been creating intricate and vivid collage work for nearly a decade. Since re-locating to London, she has had a huge amount of attention, creating advertising campaigns commissioned by such companies as Nokia, MTV, Orange, Coca-Cola, Martini, VH1 and Nike, as well as record labels such as EMI, Island, Polydor and GSL.

IdN 15th Anniversary Edition — p242-243

IdN™ Creators® — Sarah Howell (London, UK)

Tailor-made for IdN 15th Anniversary. It's called "free" and was inspired by what have been my influences in the last 15 years and where I think illustration is going in the next 15. 15 years ago I was still at school and drawing and painting, had never turned on a computer and i think as illustration becomes more important, artists can be a lot more free in their interpretation of briefs and use of medium. So I wanted this image to represent the past and the future by using a lot of drawing and painting and less computer assisted imagery.
