Kenneth Kuh — San Francisco, USA

What do you enjoy most about designing event and festival identities? “They’re often more expressive and playful, thanks to their short-term nature. Instead of focusing on strict visual consistency, there’s room to refresh the look each year based on the festival’s theme. This flexibility, combined with the instant engagement as people post and share the designs, is incredibly satisfying. What’s also exciting is the variety of deliverables — badges, wristbands, merch, banners, and more — creating an expansive playground for creativity. Designing for a festival feels like a festival itself, offering endless opportunities to explore and experiment as a designer.”

Kenneth Kuh, a San Francisco-based design generalist, works in both 2D and 3D. His diverse background — as a “third-culture kid” from the US, Taiwan and Shanghai — helps him craft designs that foster identity and belonging. For Kuh, effective branding is about “creating a shared sense of purpose and connection for those seeking belonging”.
