Genevieve Gauckler — Paris, France

"A character has to keep a kind of neutrality in order to be able to absorb everyone’s feelings. So the charcater shouldn’t be too descriptive, too detailed. That’s why many of the characters I’ve made are quite simple, everyone can see them the way they want."

Another name that one would expect to find on most people’s lists of leading character designers would be that of French artist, illustrator and art director Genvieve Gauckler. Her work is best known for being bright, fun and hectic – often combining symmetrical designs with soft-edged, computer-generated images laid against photographed backgrounds.
