Vault49

London, UK – New York, USA

The “vault” was the cupboard at their home-screen-printing studio at number 49 on the street.

About

Graduating together from the London College of Printing, Jonathan Kenyon and John Glasgow launched Vault49 while they were putting on their final-year degree show. The collaboration emerged quickly as one of the UK’s most innovative design companies, with a broad portfolio spanning typography, illustration, photography and animation. Relocating to New York in 2004, Vault49 gained a reputation for creating consistently innovative work with clients from the likes of Smirnoff, EMI, Nike, Levi’s and Nintendo.

Music Mailer: Inspiration isn't hard to come by, and it really is in the eye (and mind) of the beholder. There's a shop next door to our office which sells old botanical prints, 3 for $10, and this was the inspiration for our Camel "Music Tree" brief which evolved into a cross-pollinating music ecosystem, thanks to our find.

Orange Life: A sensual series of work created for Orange Life magazine in Canada, this is one image from a series of five spreads plus cover, based on the theme of fashion, love, and life.

Samsung: This was a global ad campaign for Samsung's new MP3 player. It really hit home just how collossal this project was when we travelled to 4 countries for business/pleasure in the space of a month, and saw this campaign in every one of them. A truly wonderful experience we'll never forget.
